Tonight’s program / Ce soir!

French singer and bass player Cécile Savage now brings her “ sultry voice and  truly unique love affair of the French for cabaret and Jazz” to our Plein Air Series after having done so in Chicago’s best jazz clubs. Cécile is accompanied by Leandro López Várady, keyboard, in a program covering plenty of chansons, jazz love songs and sprinkled with bossa nova.

Door opens at 6:00 p.m. Live music starts at 6:30 p.m. Please enter via 810 N. Dearborn. Each table of four includes one bottle of Rosé de Provence and salted nuts. Reserve early! Seating is limited in our intimate courtyard. Weather permitting otherwise event moves indoors in our salon.

More about Cécile Savage:

Cécile Savage is a French/American bassist and vocalist who first played bass with harmonicist Sugar Blue with whom she accompanied such bluesmen as Champion Jack Dupree, Louisiana Red, Memphis Slim and many more. Relocating to Chicago, she then focused on playing upright bass and singing which led her in many clubs and venues around the Midwest as well as the Chicago Jazz and the Chicago Blues festivals. Appealing to her French and Caribbean birth, and having played in New Orleans in the 80’s, she was always intrigued by the Crescent City where she moved in 2013. Her music reflects her many influences: traditional jazz songs with French lyricism, bluesy melodies and passion, and her own jazz compositions with Brazilian overtones.

More about  Leandro López Várady:

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Leandro López Várady has performed at the Green Mill, Jazz Showcase, Andy’s Jazz Club as well as at the Chicago Jazz Festival; Taste of Chicago; South Shore Jazz Festival; Hyde Park Jazz Festival; Detroit Jazz Festival; Made in Chicago Festival in  Poznan, Poland; Havana Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba; Jazz y Pop Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina- among others. Leandro received a Gold Record Award for his participation in Mietek Szcześniak’s “Nierówmi” album and he currently is the pianist for the Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic. He also is a member of Doug Lofstrom & New Quartet, Steve Hashimoto’s “Sueños”, Juli Wood’s “Chicago Calling”  and the Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre Music Ensemble.
