The Ritz Paris,
more than a Century of History
When a man with a vision, César Ritz, encountered one of the loveliest squares in Paris, the result that emerged in 1898 was a luxury hotel like no other in the world.
Proust took his inspiration from it. Coco Chanel made it her home. Royalty, business magnates, celebrities from around the world, aesthetes, all found themselves linked by an invisible bond, a happy alliance of joie de vivre and elegance.
The history of the Ritz Paris resembles a fairy tale. But there are no fairy tales without magic. Two magicians contributed to making the Ritz Paris a legend.

The second was Mohamed Al Fayed and his family. In 1979, he acquired the Ritz Paris, and like a true philanthropist, set out to restore all of its prestige. Following an extensive renovation program, encompassing nine years of work, embellishment and passion, and the creation of new services, the legend was transformed into a reality.
Those who cross the threshold of this “universe”, if only for an hour, can understand Hemingway’s phrase: “When I dream of heaven and the after life, the action always takes place at the Ritz Paris”
