Powerful and poetic, “Symptômes” is a deeply moving threnody inspired by the horrific aftermath of 9/11. Adopting the heightened prose of epic Greek tragedy the play inventively explores and deconstructs the ideologies underlying the 'war on terror' that we currently face. Shocking, heartbreaking and poignant, Symptômes is a parable of our times. |
Playwright, Gabriella Maione is French, born in Italy, intent on bringing to the American public French contemporary Theatre, which can transcend boundaries of prejudice, and misunderstanding in these troubled times. She has been instrumental in past productions such as her “Quartett” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music or her own play “Symptômes”, in preparation at Robert Wilson’s watermill Center, to offer French artistic contributions either from the author, director, or the designers. |
Director, Nicole Weisner, was recently awarded a Jeff Citation for Outstanding Actress for her portrayal of Marie in Werner Schwab’s First Ladies, directed by Zeljko Djukic at Trap Door. A company member since 1999, Nicole has performed in a number of Trap Door shows |
